A library is a collection of sources, resources, and services, and the structure
in which it is housed; it is organized for use and maintained by a public body,
an institution, or a private individual.
A Library is a collection of precompiled routines that a program can use. The routines,
sometimes called modules, are stored in object format. Libraries are particularly
useful for storing frequently used routines because you do not need to explicitly
link them to every program that uses them.
Today's libraries are repositories and access points for print, audio, and visual
materials in numerous formats, including maps, prints, documents, microform (microfilm/microfiche),
CDs, cassettes, videotapes, DVDs, video games, e-books, audiobooks and many other
electronic resources. Libraries often provide public facilities to access to their
electronic resources and the Internet.
